ChatGPT and Codex share one plugin directory. Until AutoFire’s listing is published, add it by URL.

ChatGPT

  1. Open Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced settings and turn on Developer mode.
  2. Select Create, enter the name AutoFire and the URL https://mcp.goautofire.com/mcp, and choose OAuth for authentication.
  3. Select Create, then Connect. When AutoFire opens in your browser, sign in, choose the dealership and permissions, and select Allow.
  4. In a chat, enable AutoFire from the tools menu and ask for inventory.

Codex

Codex signs in to remote MCP servers that support OAuth. Add the server, then log in:
Your browser opens AutoFire’s consent screen. The same server in ~/.codex/config.toml:
Codex registers itself with AutoFire automatically and returns to a callback on your own computer, so AutoFire’s consent screen reminds you to allow it only if you just started the login yourself. For environments that cannot open a browser, use a bearer key instead as described in Connect AutoFire MCP to Codex.

Test the connection

Approve the tool call and confirm the results belong to the dealership you chose.

Disconnect

In ChatGPT, remove the app from Settings → Apps & Connectors. In AutoFire, open Dashboard → MCP & API → Connected AI apps and select Disconnect; this cuts access even if the app is still configured.

Troubleshooting

  • The sign-in never completes: the consent screen only works for dealership owners and accepted admins.
  • A tool is missing: grant the matching permission on the consent screen, or check Codex enabled_tools.
  • 429 with a monthly message: the dealership used its plan’s monthly allowance. See MCP security.
